02 | The Challenge
As the lead product designer within the organization, I was approached by stakeholders to work on an exciting and innovative project called PowerUp Poker. This unique game offering revolved around the use of power cards, which had the ability to disrupt the flow of a poker game and introduce exciting and unexpected twists to the traditional gameplay.
One of the key objectives of this project was to appeal to a younger audience and attract them to the game.
03 | The Solution
A range of issues became apparent upon engagement with the client’s team and review of the product. A number of actions were taken to address those issues.
An extensive research followed by rework of the entire product, game and experience design. We delivered our input in a form of interactive prototypes, UI Kits and specifications. The in house staff was also trained to use the Design System as their core collaboration model in order to avoid project bottlenecks.
As a part of the delivered solution we also designed Game Economy. The solution provided the very detailed specifications to the game mechanics of playing, earning and spending activities, various currencies, digital goods and merchandise, experience levels and more.
I delivered a comprehensive range of interactive prototypes and non-interactive demos that showcased the immersive street-by-street game experience. These prototypes were accompanied by detailed UI Guidelines to ensure consistency and coherence throughout the design.
A significant focus was placed on prototyping and documenting the various use cases associated with the power cards and their impact on the game flow. This extensive work encompassed both desktop and mobile applications, ensuring a seamless integration with the Unity engine. The precise positioning of UI elements and the timing of interactions were crucial elements for the success of the product.
The Discovery stage of the project spanned a period of 6 months, during which I meticulously crafted the user experience and product design documentation. These materials were then handed over to graphic designers, motion artists, and developers to continue with the Delivery phase.
